Raptors Over the Grasslands
Open-country thermals produced an absorbing succession of harriers, eagles, and kestrels over dry-season plains.

By late morning, the grasslands had shifted from a subtle field of larks to an aerial stage for migrating and wintering raptors.
The standout moment came when guests compared silhouettes in real time: Montagu’s Harrier low over the grass, then a much bulkier eagle climbing higher on the same thermal line.
That contrast became the day’s theme, using behavior and structure rather than simply plumage to build confidence in identification.
